The Opportunity The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Information Technology department as an IT Business Analyst.Reporting to the Manager, IT Projects and Business Relationship Management, you will lead business analysis activities for projects and strategic initiatives by facilitating engagement with cross functional teams of internal and external stakeholders. You will also collaborate with staff at a variety of levels across the organization to understand business processes, functions, and capabilities and to identify solutions and develop proposals that address business requirements. Your key responsibilities as an IT Business Analyst will be to evaluate business processes, anticipate requirements, uncover areas for improvement, and recommend solutions that align with business requirements. You will effectively communicate insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management. Key responsibilities of this position will include but are not limited to:Implementing the Next Generation 9-1-1 project, you will work alongside the project team to assist in the implementation of this system. This will include documenting business processes, analyzing business process gaps, reengineering process and other tasks that may arise relating to similar projects within the Emergency Services portfolio.The key skills you bring will include:• Excellent communication and customer service skills and a strong attention to detail.• Experience facilitating, gathering, and documenting requirements, use cases, process models in multiple settings of significant complexity. • Self-management of emergent tasks and project priorities to ensure timelines are met and our partner departments are satisfied.• Organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, manage time effectively, and handle tight deadlines.• The ability to work well on your own, within our IT team, and as a group with our partner departments across the organization.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively consult with clients on a diverse range of business activities.• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Computer Science, Engineering, Sciences, Mathematics, Information Technology, Finance, Business, or related discipline. • Minimum of three to five years direct work experience in a business analyst capacity with an emphasis on supporting IT and/or technology related projects ideally in a Municipal Government. • A combination of college diploma and experience will be considered.• Entry Certificate in Business Analysis (ECBA), Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA), Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), and/or PMI Professional in Business Analysis certification(s) would be an asset. Hours of Work We offer a compressed schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off [RDO]). Compensation $81,116 - $99,835 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a comprehensive benefit package for the term opportunity. Term 12-month Term with the possibility of an extension. Conditions of Employment This position is designated for full-time remote work. Candidates must live within Alberta and complete a remote work agreement to meet all policy requirements. However, given the nature of the IT Business Analyst project related activities, there may be a requirement to attend meetings at a City facility from time to time.The successful applicant will be required to obtain a satisfactory police information check and a RCMP Enhanced Reliability information check maybe required upon hire.An Alberta Class 5 Driver’s Licence and access to a personal vehicle for business use are required.The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of educational and professional credentials.
