Job Details The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join Government/Indigenous Relations and Environment team as an Environmental Compliance Associate. Reporting to Environmental Management Supervisor, this position is responsible for the coordination and implementation of technical and reporting programs that support the City’s Environmental Management System (EMS) and other projects related to corporate environmental risks. Responsibilities Provide support and coordination of technical and reporting programs for the City’s EMS. and ISO 14001 registration. Keep up to date on ISO 14001 standards, auditing requirements and best management practices related to EMS. Provide support for programs or projects related to corporate environmental risk including regulatory requirements, the City’s Environmental Sustainability Policy, and other best management practices. Provide support for environmental monitoring, spill response, and emergency management as required. Provide support for internal or external committees or projects related to environmental risk management or opportunities as directed by the Supervisor, Environmental Management. Recommend and implement short term plans to support the EMS and other corporate environmental risk programs/projects. Manage the Contractor Environmental Responsibility Package (CERP). Qualifications A Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or related field. Minimum of 1-year of directly related experience in an environmental management role. Understanding and knowledge of environment legislation, approvals, licenses and permitting practices relevant to municipal operations; including practical experience in applying these legal requirements to day-to-day operations is required. Technical knowledge and skills in the methods of implementing, monitoring and auditing corporate EMS programs, including knowledge of ISO 14001 standards or quality management standards is required. Experience in a construction-based role is considered and asset. Environmental Professional Certification in considered in asset.Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered. Hours of Work We offer a compressed bi-weekly work schedule of 72 hours, Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00, with a biweekly regular day off (RDO). Benefit from flexible work hours by adjusting your start and end times by 30 or 60 minutes around our core hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Compensation The salary ranges from $66,540 - $81,894 per annum, including a comprehensive benefits package.
