The Opportunity In this role, you will work under the guidance of the Team Lead, Garage/Shop (Transit) or the Maintenance Planner – Lead Hand Transit. As a Senior Transit Utility Worker, you will be responsible for directing and instructing the morning and afternoon Transit Utility staff, ensuring the effective cleaning and maintenance of transit vehicles, the transit garage, and related equipment and service vehicles. Additionally, you will oversee the daily transit bus book outs, all while adhering to the City’s Standard Operating Procedures and policies.Enjoy the benefits of living and working in the Capital Region! Qualifications • Grade 12. • Current first aid certification is required.• Class 3.0 Drivers License with air endorsement.• 5 months of relevant Transit experience is required. • Experience organizing, scheduling and booking of Transit fleet vehicles.• Supervision of others within a team environment.• A clean driving record that reflects observance of traffic laws and safe driving practices. Hours of Work Permanent Full-time. 40 hours per week. Shift work may be required. Compensation $32.55 per hourIn addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive benefit package. Conditions of Employment The successful applicant will be required to obtain/maintain a satisfactory police information check.An Alberta Class 3 Driver’s Licence with air endorsement.The successful candidate must provide proof of educational and professional credentials.Primarily works in a heated garage but is required from time to time to perform road repairs and towing in all weather conditions. Requires physical exertion to lift heavy pieces of equipment, parts and/or machinery. May be exposed to dust, noise, greases, oils, gas, acids and exhaust fumes.
