The Opportunity

The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Recreation and Parks department as a Supervisor, Community Recreation.  

Reporting to Manager, Parks & Community Partnerships, this position will be responsible for overseeing community and organizational development work which includes supporting and facilitating community capital project management, managing community group relationships and partnerships, and tracking community recreation and sport needs and trends.

The key responsibilities will include:
• Leading and supporting a staff team of Community Recreation Coordinators in partnering with community organizations to address needs, implement development strategies, manage community infrastructure and ensure comprehensive community engagement and communication for departmental initiatives.
• Managing and implementing partnership strategies (focusing on not-for-profit sector) for recreation facilities and parks, including the development of tactical plans, supporting partnership opportunities, maintaining stakeholder relationships, and overseeing project management, while ensuring alignment with departmental goals and service standards.
• Implementing strategic and business plans, developing protocols for branch strategies, optimizing service delivery by analyzing community needs and trends, and collaborating with other business units for resource planning, project management, and coordinated service delivery.
• Monitoring and managing annual budgets, recommending adjustments, ensuring compliance with city policies, and assessing financial performance to optimize service delivery and meet budgetary goals.

We seek an experienced leader in Recreation and Parks who excels at driving community projects, strategic thinking, and problem-solving, and who can manage multiple tasks, build strong partnerships, and lead a team with a customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s University degree in recreation or a related field combined with five years of related professional experience including staff supervision OR Two-Year Diploma combined with seven years of related experience including staff supervision.
• Budget development and analysis experience is required.
• Project management certification is an asset.
• Proficiency with software applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
• A Class 5 driver’s license and personal vehicle for work use.

Hours of Work

You will work a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off [RDO] every two weeks). This position will be required to work flexible hours (e.g., evening/weekends) to accommodate meetings or events.

HYBRID REMOTE WORK
The City of St. Albert offers options for Hybrid Remote Work. This position may be eligible to apply for Hybrid Remote Work. That means the majority of worktime (51+%) will be completed in the designated workspace, and the remainder may be worked remotely.

Compensation

$91,317- $112,389 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a comprehensive flexible benefit package.
