The Opportunity

The City of St. Albert’s Community Services Department promotes the development of arts and cultural services throughout the community. The team connects to the community through the programming and operation of the Arden Theatre, the International Children’s Festival and St. Albert Children’s Theatre.

The City of St. Albert is recruiting two individuals to join our Community Services department as a Casual Production Assistant.  
As the Production Assistant, you will provide support and assistance to the St. Albert Children’s Theatre set/prop/wardrobe designer in all areas as assigned.

Responsibilities may include painting, prop making, sewing and organizing production assets.


• Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Physical stamina and willingness to perform tasks that may require lifting heavy equipment or working long hours
• Preference will be given to students pursuing post secondary education in Theatre Design/Technical Theatre.
• We seek applicants with extensive backstage theatre experience and wardrobe experience.
• The role requires an individual who can work well with youth of all ages.
• A Class 5 Drivers Licence is an asset.

Hours of Work

Flexible based on requirements and availability.


$20.81 - $25.34 per hour based on qualifications and experience.


Starting July 15 till December 31, 2024

Conditions of Employment

  • The successful applicant will be required to obtain a clear vulnerable sector police information check.
