Job Details

The City of St. Albert is recruiting 2 individuals to join our Recreation & Parks department as a Recreation Infrastructure Service Technicians.

Reporting to a Recreation Infrastructure Coordinator, this position will be responsible for providing general maintenance, repair and upkeep of recreational facilities and equipment, including building operational machinery such as heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and aquatics infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting regular checks and performing preventative maintenance on facilities, including structural, mechanical, and aquatic equipment.
  • Performing minor repairs and escalating advanced technical issues; tasks include painting, carpentry, plumbing, and replacing filters.
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining aquatics-related equipment, such as water chemistry controllers and pool systems.
  • Monitoring building conditions, reporting hazards, and responding to equipment shutdowns, liaising with contractors as needed.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, performing duties during facility closures, and conducting minor snow removal.
  • Using maintenance software to track repairs, document work, maintain records, and identify improvement opportunities.


The individual we seek has mechanical aptitude and experience in building maintenance, preferably with plumbing, HVAC, pool operations, control systems, and knowledge of OH&S legislation and relevant safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma combined with three (3) years of related experience including performing routine, minor building, and all-purpose maintenance in public facilities.
  • Swimming Pool Operator Level 1 is preferred.
  • Building maintenance / Operations Certificate (or similar) is an asset.
  • Facility Management Certificate (BOMI Canada) Designation is an asset.
  • Other related technical, aquatics or facility maintenance education may be considered.


Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.

Hours of Work

  • We offer a compressed bi-weekly work schedule of 72 hours, Tuesday - Saturday with a biweekly regular day off (every second Saturday).
  • Working hours are either 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Compensation

  • The salary ranges from $52,211 - $62,314 per annum, including a comprehensive benefits packagewith a Flexible Spending Account and Pension Plan.
