The Opportunity The City of St. Albert is recruiting for the Front of House Assistant position with the Arden Theatre. The Arden Theatre welcomes more than 65,000 patrons to over 150 events annually. As the Front of House Assistant, you will be responsible to fill any of the roles associated with audience services any time the to patron services. Directly reporting to the Patron and Venue Services Coordinator, the Front of House Assistants make up the event team to oversee all public areas of the theatre, provide professional customer service, and act as representatives of the theatre and the City on the night of a performance or gathering. Primary roles and responsibilities of this position include:• Acting as the designated event Front of House ensuring the comfort and safety of our patrons and clients and providing leadership to our volunteers.• Acting as the Concession and Bar Staff Lead responsible for all aspects of retail and complementary merchandise and concession services and providing leadership to our volunteers.• Acting as the Box Office Lead responsible for independent operation of box office ticketing and information services• This position also contributes to administrative duties and processes. The person we seek is professional, organized and has confidence to address and resolve requests/inquiries from varied sources. An individual with strong leadership skills and a passion for creating great customer experiences is well suited for this role. Qualifications • Completion of a High School Diploma.• Post-secondary education in an Arts and Cultural Management Program would be an asset. • Must have or obtain First Aid/CPR and ProServe certification.• Strong customer service skills and prior experience working with the public.• Experience working in a theatre or arts environment is beneficial.• Previous experience with ticketing systems and/or POS systems would be an asset.• Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite. • Volunteer management experience would be beneficial.• There is a regular requirement for moderate lifting (boxes of approx. 35 lbs) and setting up displays. Hours of Work This position is casual, and the number of shifts can vary depending on the number of performances and events each month. The range is on average 4 – 30 hours per month. The majority of shifts are evenings and weekends, but there are occasional daytime shifts, so a flexible schedule is key. Compensation $20.81 - $25.34 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
