The Opportunity The Recreation & Parks team is currently seeking a talented and motivated individual to help prepare, oversee, and support over 100 fun, safe, and inclusive Summer Day camps for children ages 4-12 years- old as a Summer Camp Coordinator. Summer Coordinators also help train and support our Recreation Leaders who plan and lead these camps and up to 50 youth Leaders in Training who play an active role in the success of our camps each year.Summer Day Camp Coordinators work alongside the Recreation Program Coordinators to carry out the following responsibilities:• Promote summer camps and programs• Confirm camp details, such as program plans, space booking, external contractors, and City bussing.• Scheduling staff • Plan and facilitate summer staff orientation and training week• Coach and evaluate Leaders in Training• Managing the summer camp budget• Purchasing supplies and equipment management• Addressing questions or concerns from participants and parents• Coordinate any inclusive participant accommodations and support staff to be able to manage participant challenges. • Support Canada Day activities. Qualifications • Friendly and energetic with excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills• Experience supervising and leading activities with children• Experience organizing children’s recreation programs and supervising staff• Standard First Aid/CPR-C and AED certification.• HIGH FIVE ®PHCD and/or Sport Certifications and NCCP FMS Certification are assets• An Alberta Class 5 Driver’s Licence and access to a personal vehicle for business useADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS This position is in receipt of Canada Summer Jobs funding and therefore to be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria outlined by the Canada Summer Jobs program:• be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment;• be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*; and• have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. Hours of Work • Spring Break Day Camps: March 24-28, 2025• Weekday shifts (up to 40 hours per week) from April 28- August 31, 2025 including Canada Day. Compensation Starting at $20.81 - $25.34 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
