Cultivate your Career:

As Alberta's 'Botanical Arts City', St. Albert is a community renowned for its botanical arts, its commitment to a green lifestyle and the cultivation of activities that provide for a well-rounded quality of life. Our employees provide over 66,000 residents with high-quality programs and services and are proud to contribute to making St. Albert one of the best places to live in Canada.

The Opportunity:

The City of St. Albert is recruiting for three (3) IT Project Managers to join our Financial Services & Information Technology department.

As the IT Project Manager you will provide leadership, project planning, budgeting, and management, as well as research and requirements analysis on technology related projects or work packages for other City projects.

You will perform business/process analysis and business relationship management functions, acting as the IT advisor and focal point for project priorities and IT services for assigned business areas - knowing the business and how technology can support it, ensuring governance works effectively and that IT services meet department needs.

Your key responsibilities will be to initiate, plan, budget, and manage IT projects from conception to completion; acquire resources and manage team members and contractors to deliver projects according to plan; define project objectives; oversee quality control; act as a liaison with other City departments and assist them in their project management duties to ensure a consistent project management approach throughout the organization. You may also work as part of a team on high profile and complex projects and will work with the Manager, IT Projects & Innovation in providing portfolio management for the City.

When required, you will design business/process requirements including researching, gathering and analyzing data in support of business functions, process knowledge, systems requirements, business cases, and proposed projects.

Since these projects significantly impact the daily operations of every City department and typically involve multiple departments, vendors and consultants, you will need organizational skills and the ability to provide clear communication across many different degrees of technical knowledge. You will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to maximize the benefit of technology investments.

• University degree in the field of Computer Science, Commerce, Business or related discipline. A combination of college diploma and experience will be considered.
• Minimum of five years direct work experience in a project management capacity with an emphasis on managing IT projects.
• Experience in portfolio management, business analysis, business relationship management, and process improvement is an asset.
• Municipal experience is an asset, specifically in technology and information systems planning to support business goals.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2 certification and/or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is an asset.
• ITIL4 experience and/or certification and Change Management or Prosci certification are assets.

Hours of Work:

We offer a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off [RDO] every two weeks).

$80,598 – $98,060 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive flexible benefit package.

• Please upload a cover letter and a resume when applying for this opportunity. These will need to be uploaded as two separate documents.
• Applications will only be accepted to 10:00 p.m. MST on the closing date.
• Please note that the City will be conducting video conference interviews to minimize the potential spread of COVID-19.

• The successful applicant will be required to obtain a satisfactory police information check.
• The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of educational and professional credentials.

We wish to express our appreciation to all applicants for their interest and effort in applying for this position. However, only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted. The City of St. Albert will no longer accept applications in person, via fax, email or by post.
