The Opportunity:

The City of St. Albert’s Recreation and Parks department is recruiting for a Casual Service Technician.

As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for supporting general maintenance, repair and upkeep of recreational facilities and equipment, including aquatics-related equipment and processes such as water chemistry or chemical-feed systems and building operational machinery such as heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and plumbing. The City of St. Albert operates a multipurpose leisure centre (Servus Credit Union Place), two year-round indoor aquatic complexes (Fountain Park Recreation Centre and Landrex Water Play Centre), as well as three seasonal outdoor facilities (Grosvenor Park Outdoor Swimming Pool, Versailles Splash Pad and Woodlands Water Play Park).

The Service Technician supports infrastructure operations ensuring compliance with Alberta Building Codes, Alberta Health Pool Standards, and Occupational Health and Safety legislation. The work encompasses completing preventative and ongoing maintenance/repair which can include Aquatics equipment and chemistry, minor carpentry, Plumbing, HVAC including filter replacements. As well, the incumbent will be required to first level troubleshoot emergent issues in all areas of Aquatics or Building Maintenance. The Technician plays a key role in the annual start up and shut down of outdoor aquatic facilities
The individual we are looking for has demonstrated mechanical aptitude, good communication and teamwork skills, and wants to contribute to a team passionate about creating great patron experiences.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 3 years related experience .
• Swimming Pool Operator Level 1 is preferred.
• Building Maintenance related experience with plumbing, HVAC, pool operations, mechanical control and security systems.
• Proficient in the use of MS Office programs,
• A valid Class 5 Drivers License and a personal vehicle for work use is required.
• Experience working in an aquatic environment is an asset.

Hours of Work:

This position requires flexibility to accommodate day, evening, and weekend shifts, up to 40 hours per week. This position may also participate in an 24/7 on-call support program.

Compensation:

Starting at $19.79 - $24.10 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
