The Opportunity:

The City of St. Albert is looking for dynamic Aquatic Instructors to join our team and teach swim programs year-round at Fountain Park Recreation Centre.

As an Aquatics Instructor 3 you will:
• Clean, organize and set up equipment and your assigned space, and ensure all program supplies and equipment are available.
• Develop and deliver the program content to the participants, including preparing lesson plans and instructional material specific to your program.
• Greet participants and ensure any required information is exchanged.
• Deliver excellent customer service and create a valuable and positive experience
• Maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Maintain a record of performance for participants and distribute program evaluations.

In addition, our Instructor 3 staff act in the capacity of senior instructors, team leaders, mentors and role models for other instructors. They are assigned special duties to ensure that program administration is completed by required deadlines and are scheduled to provide extra support on each night of programs. They provide training, guidance and supervision to the program volunteers and deal with customer issues when necessary.

Qualifications:

• 1000 hours of instructing experience.
• Hold an Instructor Trainer certification.
• Any additional aquatic experience and training is certainly considered an asset.

Preference will be given to candidates that have teaching experience and those who hold one or more of the following:

• Swim Instructor Trainer
• Lifesaving Instructor Trainer
• Emergency First Aid (EFA) Instructor
• Standard First Aid (SFA) Instructor
• Dive Instructor
• Canoe Instructor
• National Lifeguard (NL) Instructor
• Oxygen Administration (02) Instructor
• JLC Coach
• Swim Coach Certification
• Those holding other Instructor qualifications will be considered

Hours of Work:

Instructors are needed to fill a variety of shifts and must be available to work a flexible schedule. We require individuals who are available to work a minimum of 4 hours per week.
We are primarily looking to fill evening and weekend shifts.

Compensation:

$24.01 - $29.20 per hour

Condition of Employment:
To keep our employees, their families and the public safe and healthy, the City has decided to apply the Provincial Restriction Exemption Program standards with some modifications for employees starting September 27, 2021. New Employees joining the City on or after September 27, 2021, must have one approved dose. Employees joining after October 25, 2021, must be fully vaccinated. Exemptions may be considered but will need to be reviewed and validated before commencing work with the City of St. Albert.
