Servus Credit Union Place (www.servusplace.ca) is a part of the community of St. Albert; a place where residents gather to pursue healthy living. The facility hosts 2,700 members and guests daily in over 320,000 square feet of leisure and fitness space including ice surfaces, two soccer field houses, a Fitness and Wellness Centre, track gymnasium and meeting rooms.

The Opportunity:

As a Facility Attendant you will be responsible for providing room and event set up, minor janitorial duties and cleaning support throughout the facility where required. You will report to the Head Custodian and work as part of a team with the Janitorial group and other staff at Servus Place to deliver exceptional customer service.
Approximately half your time will be spent setting up/taking down meeting rooms with tables/chairs, staging, pipe/drape, whiteboards, AV equipment such as portable screens, lap top computer or projectors in booked spaces. The Facility Attendant will also assist with the preparation and take down of various special events within the facility. They will read/monitor the facility’s daily schedule for booked functions and events.

The Facility Attendant will be responsible for performing general janitorial duties such as cleaning of main entry way/common areas, rearranging furniture, emptying garbage cans, picking up garbage and spills, wiping tables, glass cleaning, light dusting, and cleaning of washrooms or change rooms.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience with event/room set up/take down is required.
• Previous experience with janitorial cleaning duties an asset.
• WHMIS would be an asset (due to cleaning tasks and use of chemicals).
• Must have the ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• The ideal candidate is self motivated who thrives in a fast-paced environment and excels at multi-tasking.
• Previous experience working in a recreation facility environment would be beneficial.
• To be successful, candidates must have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working as part of a team, but also independently.

Note: This is a physically demanding position requiring the Facility Attendants to be on their feet and constantly walking through the facility for long periods of time. You may be required to lift up to a maximum of 30lbs at a time and move table and chair carts up to 50lbs in weight. The successful candidate must successfully complete a Physical Demand Analysis which is required prior to commencing the position.

Competencies:

$15.37 – $18.70 per hour

Hours of Work:

Facility Attendants are needed for a variety of shifts which could include:

Weekday evenings: approximately 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 pm.
Weekends: start times between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and end times of 9:00 or 10:00 p.m.
