The Opportunity

The City of St. Albert is recruiting for 2 Heavy-Duty Technicians (HDT) in our Public Works Garage to perform preventative and unscheduled maintenance on our Public Operations Vehicles, Transit Vehicles, Emergency Services Vehicles and equipment. Our benefit package is above average and includes a tool allowance. The shop currently operates from 5:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday, utilizing rotational standby to cover 24/7.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 and Journeyman Heavy Duty Technician (On/Off Road Technician program) holding a certificate recognized in the Province of Alberta.
• Level 1 EVT Certification preferred.
• Preferred candidates will have one year or more experience as a Journeyman Technician, with a strong background in electrical systems, computer technology and communication software.
• Class 5 Alberta Drivers License with "Q" (air) endorsement. A valid Class 3 Alberta Drivers license is preferred.
• Current first aid certification is required.

Hours of Work

40 hours per week. Monday through Friday.

Participation in the standby roster will be required.

Compensation

• $44.89 per hour (2024 rate)
• $45.79 per hour (2025 rate)

This position is represented by the CUPE Local 941 Collective Agreement.

Conditions of Employment

• The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of educational and professional credentials.
